Born and raised in New York to Peruvian parents, Miryam developed an eye for design at a very early age. Attending antique auctions at the age of ten with her father, an art and antique enthusiast, Miryam religiously thumbed through pages of Unique Homes and Architectural Digest for ideas. That kind of influence prompted her at the age of thirteen to take part throughout a two and a half year renovation of the family's new home, a 1924 Mediterranean-style home in New York.

At the age of sixteen Miryam began paving her way, via jobs and internships, through the many facets of the visual arts & entertainment industries: from television to print, art galleries & museums,  to commercial & film production.

With the intent of pursuing a fine art focus, Miryam attended The George Washington University in Washington, DC.  As an undergraduate seeking a possible curatorial career, she interned at Neuberger Museum of Art (Purchase, NY), was a gallery assistant at the Dimock Gallery (Wash., D.C.) and worked as a sample librarian at Brunschwig et Fils (Wash., D.C.). By her senior year, she wanted a fast paced career that prompted her to again seek the entertainment industry. In 1997, Rojas graduated from The Geroge Washington University with a B.A. in Art History & Fine Arts, with a concentration in Design.

For a change of scenery, return to entertainment, and quest to improve her Spanish, Miryam landed in Miami to work on television commercial, film, and music video productions. Seeking a hands-on approach to her visual arts style, she worked as a set decorator and scenic artist on various productions.

Four years later, Miryam caught the renovation bug again and invested in real estate; turning once forgone rental properties into completely renovated suites. It was only after stumbling upon an article about the growing trend of interior arrangement and redesign, that she knew that it was exactly what she wanted to do; using what you already own to make a totally new living space.

Together with a remodeling background and over twelve years of experience in various facets of visual art & design, Miryam launched Design Intervention in March 2003.
